Ingredients Winter melon 1/4th cut into small pieces Buttermilk (from home made yogurt) 2 cups salt to taste
For Paste coconut 1/2 cup coriander seeds 1tsp mustard seeds 1/4 tsp Grind all the above ingredients to a smooth paste.
Seasoning Ingredients hing a small pinch Urad Daal 1/2 tsp Channa daal 1/2 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 sp turmeric 1/4 sp red chilli 1no. curry leaves 1strand
Preparation Place all the cut winter melon and a little salt in the vessel add sufficient water and boil it, once it is a little soft add the above mentioned paste to the winter melon and cook for 5 min, then place another vessel with a little oil and heat it, once the oil is hot add the seasoning Ingredients in the order mentioned above and once you hear popping sounds, add it to the winter melons and stir it well and cook for another 2 min. and remove from stove and allow it to cool. Once it is cooled down add the buttermilk to it and stir it well and it's ready to serve. Serve it on rice.
