Ingredients Black Channa 2 cups ( soak it overnight and cook until soft) tomato 2no. (made into paste) hing a small pinch curry leaves 1strand cumin seeds 1/2 sp mustard seeds 1/4 sp turmeric 1/4 sp Sambhar Pdr (home made or MTR) jaggery small lemon size cilantro leaves 1/4 cup salt to taste Sunflower oil 2 tsp
Preparation Pressure cook soaked black channa upto 2-3 whistles. Place a little oil in a vessel and once the oil is a little heated then add hing, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric, and curry leaves and once you hear the popping sounds add the tomato paste a little water along with it and cook it for 5 min, then add the black channa and a little more water and cook it well with salt, then add the sambhar pdr, jaggery and stir everything together and cook again for 5 - 7 min. or until done, In the end add the cilantro leaves and salt if necessary and stir it well. it is ready to be served. It goes well with rice and chapati (roti).
